Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credit for Endocrine Practice Manuscript Reviewers
Endocrine Practice offers CME credit for manuscript reviewers who provide timely, high-quality reviews of manuscripts submitted for publication.
In this manuscript review activity, Associate Editors select peer reviewers based on their area of expertise. As learners, peer reviewers will utilize their knowledge and skills in their specialties and learn new information in their field that can be applied to their clinical practice. This activity provides a format for learning for reviewers and ensures that published manuscripts meet the required standards for evidence-based clinical content.
Learning Objectives
By participating in this manuscript review CME activity, the learner will be able to:
- Perform a critical analysis of the medical literature.
- Provide constructive feedback to the author, including strengths/weaknesses of manuscript.
- Improve knowledge of current issues and developments in their area of expertise.
Target Audience
Endocrinologists and physicians in related specialties who review manuscripts submitted to Endocrine Practice for possible publication.
Accreditation Statement
The American College of Endocrinology (ACE) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American College of Endocrinology designates this manuscript review for a maximum of 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Requirements for Manuscript Review CME Credit
- Reviewer must be a US-based MD.
- CME credit is only available for the first review of each manuscript; review of revisions will not qualify for credit.
- CME credit is available only for reviews that are submitted on time.
- Reviewers must complete the Reviewer Questionnaire in Editorial Manager when they submit their review to receive credit.
- Reviewers may claim a maximum of 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ per year for manuscript review CME credits.
- Reviewers will only receive credit for reviews completed within the same calendar year.
- Reviewers cannot have a conflict of interest related to his/her ability to critique the manuscript.
Awarding CME Credit
Editors will assess manuscript reviews after they are completed, which will serve as an oversight method to ensure quality of reviews. Reviews will be graded on scale of 1-100, based on the following criteria: demonstrating a clear understanding of manuscript, its strengths/weaknesses, novelty or importance; providing insightful comments to editors and useful recommendations for manuscript improvement to authors. Reviews that receive a score of 30 or less will not receive CME credit.
Credits are awarded annually for reviews that have been performed during the same calendar year. Reviewers who have received a score of 30 or higher will be notified at the end of year by the Editorial office via email with instructions to claim their CME credit via the AACE Learning Management System.
