Transforming Patient Care with the Obesity Algorithm will guide HCPs on implementing the new AACE Obesity Algorithm and integrating the practical patient-centered care approaches and evidence-based interventions with strategies to address weight stigma. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize obesity as a serious, progressive chronic disease requiring proactive screening and long-term intervention to prevent complications and address comorbidities.
  • Apply new evidence-based obesity clinical guidance to screen, stage, and select appropriate treatments using the AACE algorithm in daily clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate understanding of selecting, initiating, and optimizing comprehensive obesity treatment plans, including lifestyle modifications and pharmacotherapy based on individual patient factors.
  • Identify effective, bias-free communication strategies that enhance patient engagement.

Jaime Almandoz, MD, MBA, DABOM, FTOS

Jaime Almandoz, MD, MBA, DABOM, FTOS is a Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of the Weight Wellness Obesity Medicine Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is board-certified in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine and a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).

Dr. Almandoz earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, completed his Internal Medicine residency and Endocrinology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, and pursued a fellowship in Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases at UT Southwestern. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the ABOM and as Vice Chair of the Nutrition and Obesity Disease State Network for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. His clinical and research interests include interdisciplinary weight management programs, post-bariatric weight recurrence, and disparities in obesity care.

 



Dimpi Desai, MD

Dr. Dimpi Desai is a Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, specializing in obesity management. She completed her fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a faculty in the division of Endocrinology at Stanford University. Her passion lies in improving the lives of individuals with obesity, and her clinical research also focuses on advancing care in this area. Dr. Desai is dedicated to delivering compassionate, comprehensive care to a diverse patient population. Beyond clinical care, she is deeply committed to education. As the Endocrine Rotation Director for medical students and internal medicine residents, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. Her active involvement in national societies and educational programs underscores her commitment to research, advocacy, and the advancement of her field.

 

 



Priya Jaisinghani, MD, DABOM

Dr. Priya Jaisinghani is a board-certified endocrinologist and obesity medicine specialist, currently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Langone Health. She completed her medical training and internal medicine residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and received distinction in service to the community. She went on to complete her endocrinology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell.

Dr. Jaisinghani is actively involved in leadership and education through the Obesity Action Coalition, the Tristate Obesity Society, and the Endocrine Society’s Obesity Special Interest Group Steering Committee. Her academic work includes peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, including her latest on obesity and viral infections, and with recent publications appearing in Nature. Her expertise has been featured across major media outlets including ABC News, NBC News, the Today ShowNew York TimesWall Street Journal, Forbes, Times of India, and Medscape
